Never felt anything like it, but it brought me back to how I was in my childhood and I could even play more video games and enjoy myself more.
Like, damn.
Just one edible, I took. Sativa. Peach-flavored. From Beyond / Hello.
Before that, I took half of an edible.
I was relaxed and my head was swimming, but I felt in control.
I had to lie down at first, though, but I wasn't worried.
My interoception (feeling your own body) was on fire though.
It’s pretty great, honestly. Simply trying it shows you how completely fucked the war on drugs has been.
Definitely be cautious about over-doing it, but have fun! It’s an incredible enhancer to experiences, but can make you very ok with being unproductive and lazy.Everyone should be okay with being unproductive and lazy as it is our default state. Capitalists have tricked us into thinking we have to be productive so they can exploit that productivity for profit. Lying in bed all day and eating snacks is praxis.
Don't get me wrong, I love chilling out and being lazy, but I don't think I totally agree: I don't think work is inherently bad. It's bad under capitalism because we're exploited and alienated, but under communism I think it will actually be fulfilling and meaningful.
Idk, my depression gets a lot worse when I just veg. I'm not saying be productive for your capitalist overloads, but being productive for myself is really important. Reading, learning, helping people, building things, all make me happy to live my life.
I think this is just me using the word "productive" literally and others using it to mean...something else? Idk I'm autistic and it's hard to communicate sometimes. Lying in bed and reading a book is not typically what someone means when they say "be productive" in my own experience. In fact, I've been called lazy for doing that exact thing many, many times.
The dictionary definition is actually quite positive, in contrast to what you and I'm sure many people associate with it. According to Cambridge, "resulting in or providing a large amount or supply of something" or "having positive results". If that's applied to your passions and goals, then I think that's not a bad aspiration.
Yeah, productivity isn't bad per se; doing it for yourself and maybe for others is the best way, I feel.
Doing it for capitalism or for alienating work? Nah.
Work is... good. Your labor is good. But under capitalism, we're alienated from our labor.
nah having goals and dreams and working to accomplish them is good actually
yeah true it isn't really a term I like due to its heavy capitalist-striver-burnout-culture connotations
Yes, which is why I said that it's fine to be unproductive and lazy. Because associating productivity with having goals and being fucking happy is capitalist propaganda.
Yeah, that's what we're trying to avoid.
I'm not anti-work. I'm just not.
I believe that one should be in tune and un-alienated from their own labor.
It is difficult for me to imagine what "personal liberty" is enjoyed by an unemployed person, who goes about hungry, and cannot find employment.
Real liberty can exist only where exploitation has been abolished, where there is no oppression of some by others, where there is no unemployment and poverty, where a man is not haunted by the fear of being tomorrow deprived of work, of home and of bread. Only in such a society is real, and not paper, personal and every other liberty possible.

nah, that just isn't true. allowing your body to regenerate and being lazy are of course just things human beings need to do, and there's obviously nothing wrong with using substances to help with that, but doing nothing but being high and lazy as your default state just numbs you to the state of the world, which is exactly the opposite of what being a communist is all about really.
Everyone deserves a few lying in bed all day days a month just because that's a pleasure we're entitled to as people. I've found even that can be "productive" when it's purposeful rest and relaxation. Finding yourself getting out of bed at 1pm (or whatever time that is relative to your schedule) just because you can't stand the taste of your own breath anymore probably isn't that.
Breakneck speed and efficiency in anything can cause the same tunnel vision driving does https://www.emesa-m30.com/tunnel-effect-car/
That's what I was thinking!
It didn't even feel addictive, I could tell. And my mind was more clear as well.
Watch out for the edibles comrade, it's easy to overdo it with those
Yeah, I took half at first and then went up to the full edible.
I'm not taking more than one though. Easy to get overwhelmed.
Yeah always worth taking it slow and remembering the mantra, "you can always take more but you can't take less"
Man what I wouldn’t do to get that first high feeling just one more time before I die. Well, time to roll me a gorilla thumb.
A break to remove tolerance can work wonders. I find the longer I'm sober the better my high is. A few weeks is okay if you smoke often, but a few months can really work wonders.
the trick is to not just do a few months tolerance break, but to then also not start smoking the same amount that you used to smoke before. start with really small doses and you'll get a much better high without your tolerance immediately being where it was before.
Yeah good point I forgot to mention that part. I always start with a very small dose after breaks but sometimes I forget that's not obvious. Keeping the dose small has been a struggle but I think that's a sign I'm taking too much too often.
Yeah, not something you want to do every day and not always every week, I feel.
I wish I had ever felt that. Its only ever given me anxiety and headaches.
Might depend on what you're injesting.
I tihnk I found the right strain and right composition.
It's great but don't do it more than once a month.
Have had more of a few friends start a wake-and-bake lifestyle then remain totally stuck for years and be absolutely unable to carry on a simple conversation, or even finish a sentence without trailing off.
Other bad possibilities include cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome. Basically if you don't smoke for a few hours you get deeply nauseous. Once hooked up with someone who had to fully leave my house into the night at 3 am because they started vomiting from it but I didn't have any weed to give them.
"once a month" is a fine rule if you really want to keep it special, but there's still a giant gap between that and actually abusing the stuff. I'd say guidelines like: don't make it part of your routine, don't use when you are feeling down, don't use if you are bored or only use it on special occasions or when you are with friends are much more sensible for actually keeping it in check.
So do it once a month at best? Or don't get "high" more than once a month?
Gotcha.
And yeah, this was an edible, though I felt in control.
Once a month is a little restrictive imo. I'd only start being concerned if it was a weekly habit.
What do you think I should go for?
Once a week?
Or once every two weeks?
Probably once every two weeks as a baseline, but I'm pretty sure you can be perfectly healthy going weekly. It's mostly just keeping yourself in check for being dependant and not building a habit around it. If you start to notice that in yourself, back off some you know?
Everyone's different. I share a bowl with my wife every night while we are winding down before bed. Haven't had any negative side effects.
When I was in my twenties, I was a much heavier smoker. I was deeply unhappy with my circumstances, and used it as a way to shut my brain off after work or on weekends. The worst side effect there was hanging out with people I shouldn't have, and spending too much money on it. Now, it's cheap and everywhere.
Oh.
Honestly, that's a good point, and you seem well-adjusted and a good person and even better than you were before. I'll make note of that. Honestly, a lot of conflicting advice in this thread. I should just settle for what works for me, personally.
Good luck! It's a beautiful thing when you find the balance. Pretty much all drugs have diminishing returns the more frequently you do them.
I would say just don't do it more than once a month, assuming you're referring to weed-adjacent stuff that mellows you out but doesn't get you high like the CBD-infused-everything-under-the-sun products. Idk it's a shifty thing. Not addictive in a chemical sense but all too easy to integrate into your daily life. Then your baseline resets and non-medicated existence seems anxiety-inducing and dull.
That last part is... not how I feel.
Like, I understand what's my "weed state" and what's my "base form" and I think they both have their uses.
It is good that is now how you currently feel. However, that perception will shift over time with heavy use.
I remember my first time so clearly, it was incredible.
depression/sh
A mandatory reporter had just told my parents about my sh and they weren't taking it well. (they eventually came around though). I had been horribly depressed. I tell one of my friends about the situation and we go out to his truck. My god only a few puffs and I was so fucking happy. It felt like the best experience of my entire life. The depression, gone. Replaced with a child like feeling. Everything was so good. Food tasted good again. It was an incredible change from low to high.
I'm doing better now
But yes, weed is amazing. Big fan. I know what you mean by the head swimming, I really like that.
Yeah, my interoception honestly got better. It was amazing. But I felt steady and in control.
I will tell you now that you're beginning your weed journey, sometime you will do too much. Time will stop. You will feel like you are definitely going to die and that the dying will last forever.
I am going to tell you now that it will not last forever, you will not die, you will be okay, it will go away.
Also moderation is your friend. I know that the trope is that nobody can ruin their life with weed but you absolutely can. Nothing wrong with using it to relax or enjoy yourself now and again but the majority of the people I know that do it daily have major issues as a result.
Yeah, so don't get high more than once a month. That's what someone told me.
And don't use it too much beyond that.
When I get heavy into weed, it's like 3-5 times a week. Mostly just don't do to many full day trips and you should be fine. If you feel lethargic the day after then maybe ease up a bit.
Basically listen to your body and don't treat it like a crutch from like a bad day or whatever and you should be fine.
I got a friend who basically smoked 3-4 times a day for like 15 years and he's a bit fried.
Yeah, I'm looking to not be a pothead.
I think once a week sounds reasonable, at least for me, right now.
Lol I wasn't trying be a "everyone is doing it" dude. Once a week as a weekly "nightcap" is nice.
I think it's different for everyone, moderate yourself however you're comfortable moderating. I think most months I have a few small puffs of my vape pen a few days a month, and then one big edible evening once ish a month, and that works really well for me. Some people do less, some people do more. I just think that folks who smoke all day every day are probably not in as healthy as a place as they claim to be, and my evidence for that is basically their entire life. I also don't necessarily blame them though we all have to do what we have to do to cope in capitalism and for some folks the way they need to cope is to be constantly slightly high. I just don't think that's something to aspire to.
"I just think that folks who smoke all day every day are probably not in as healthy as a place as they claim to be, and my evidence for that is basically their entire life."
Yeah, and I get that.
I'm not going to do it "every day."
I'm going to take an edible every now and then, I think, and not get high too often as well.
lmao I remember the first time I felt like the dying would last forever. I tried telling myself "you KNOW this won't last forever, no one gets too high forever" and then thinking "but what if, like, my PERCEPTION of time lasts forever and I'm trapped in this state forever because that's how my perception works now?"
Then I laid down and fell asleep and woke up only a little high
Easily the best advice. Being told nonstop how weed is nothing but pure euphoria does not prepare people well for the times things get too difficult. They're not common but they happen and that's how people end up thinking their weed is laced with pcp but na weed can just be strong as fuck.
Late but here you go: (I couldn't find the other one sorry)
The first time I did weed was at a religious conference, lol.
Sometimes, it's nice to phase out of life for a bit...
Like a disembodied traveling spirit? In a 3rd person POV? (yeah, idk anything about marijuana, just guessing)
No, not at all like that. Not something wacky. Just heightened senses.
Suitably underwhelming... but I was satisfied.
Let's put it like that.
First time I smoked weed was in a dirty dorm room while half-drunk on apple vodka and I couldn't get over how I felt like I was floating. It was magical
I love that liberal weed propaganda is going strong even in the hexbear comments.
It's chill and can even be really fun the first few times, nothing quite like laughing uncontrollably. Just don't do it too much.
Personally I love indica which I think puts me in a minority but I love the feeling of being couch locked. It's so relaxing.
Do mushrooms next, they're amazing. But you've gotta be somewhere safe with friends and in a good head space
The couple times I've done indica there was immediately after some unforeseen emergency I had to attend to with people yelling at me, so they're mentally tied to being very frustrated and angry for me now
Somehow the universe knows exactly when I'm in a vulnerable state and chooses that moment to strike.
Music was amazing though. I got into a couple new genres that day
Also, where can I get shrooms?
I won't try them though, tbh. I think cannabis is enough for me.
Find your local Grateful Dead cover band or other hippie adjacent band. Someone there will know where to get them. Otherwise, growing is pretty easy.
You either gotta know a guy, or you can try checking out the DNM. Psilocybin isn't exactly legal. Growing it yourself is also an option, but that takes a while.
Or you could go with amanita mushrooms, which are legal, but they aren't quite the same.
Fly agaric to be specific don't go around looking for amanitas to eat that's a good way to die
Yeah, I didn't laugh uncontrollably this time; I just took one edible and felt really relaxed and had a lot of clarity and even wanted to do more fun things (whereas I'm always geared toward reading).
