I mean, this is one hell of a monkey wrench in his already-not-looking-super-great election campaign.

The only thing anyone remembers from the debate is Trump saying "Ready, Aim, Stand By" to his Proud Boy goons. The SCOTUS nomination has been derailed, with Mike Lee positive and ACB in the gray zone. Trump's going to be stuck at Walter Reed for at least the weekend, when he was supposed to be glad-handing mega-donors. And we're going to spend the next news cycle talking about how important it is to wear a mask.

Like... not a great week for the GOP, all told.

A reminder to all Americans that the net effect of our prime minister catching COVID-19 was that it prompted a surge of patriotic support. From which he emerged with renewed popularity. Which enabled him to tear up key functions of the state

It also silenced press & parliament at key moment in crisis from asking critical questions. And when it was announced he was moving to intensive care was moment of national shock. Everything about this is rocket fuel for ‘patriotism’

    — Carole Cadwalladr, british journalist who exposed cambridge analytica tweet

I honestly think this is a net negative unless Trump gets long term side effects like chronic fatigue

Johnson had just won his election and was in the middle of a victory lap when COVID hit. He was relatively popular before COVID hit and he wasn't out there flaunting denialism and touting fake cures in the six months prior.

Trump is a month out from election day, just spent the prior evening acting like a total asshole on national television, and has repeatedly insisted that COVID is "just the flu" and easily curable with fish-tank cleaner and a bleach injection.

The only thing that can wreck this for the Democrats is if they fall over themselves apologizes over how rude Twitter is being.

Somebody needs to go in there and ask: if trump dies, what's the plan then? How do they continue?

They made an alternative site far before their subreddit was banned.

It has tens of thousands of users, likely at least 100,000 with how many votes the posts get.

They locked r/The_Donald and kept the new site as a stickied post for months.

When Reddit banned the subreddit, it was already long abandoned.

When Reddit banned the subreddit, it was already long abandoned.

They didn't ban CTH as cover so they could ban T_D without a shitstorm; they wanted to ban CTH and used the bloated corpse of T_D to "both sides" it.

          100%

The biggest real sub they banned that day was CTH. Biggest community of leftists on social media.

@Beatnik saved us by making that Discord hours before. This place would not exist without that.

Except they made it months earlier and did a far superior job at porting their base over.

Posts get thousands of upvotes there and that likely means they have 10,000s of people online regularly.
