Another Democratic operative close to Harrisworld says they sent memos and data to Harris campaign staffers underscoring how, among other things, Republican voters, believe it or not, vote Republican — and that the data over the past year screamed that Democrats instead needed to reassure and energize the liberal base and Dem-leaning working class in battleground states. “We were told, basically, to get lost, no thank you,” says the operative.

sent this to one of the neighbors I'm trying to radicalize

he first responded to just the headline by saying, "but doesn't it seem like a good idea to try to win over any Republicans we can?" 😂

sent him the part you quoted, and then a moment later

dude, even Bill Fuckin Kristol was telling them to reconsider!

Interestingly, Bill Kristol, a top Never Trump Republican, publicly urged Harris in the final weeks of the campaign to pitch a progressive, populist economic message against Trump and his army of billionaire supporters.

In late October, he wrote on X: “Feels like maybe Kamala Harris should embrace Elizabeth Warren’s Ultra-Millionaire Tax and barnstorm on that for the next ten days.”

he is now just saying he's very tired and can't talk anymore tonight and has sworn off watching news for a while.

!!! somebody tell me what to send him tomorrow. need some hopeful stuff that isn't too obviously commie because he will reject it. not too long, either – he is retired but he has ADHD.

other cool neighbor is gonna be busy at work all weekend, but I'll pester her Monday

You can maybe try one of Bernie's recent statements. One of them was generally positive about how Democrats can move forward from this, but also critical. Obviously that's not our goal, but it could push him a little bit.

oooooooohhhhhh this is a good idea. he told me after Hillary lost that he wished he had listened to me and voted for Bernie in the primary.

Give them some time and space. Let each bite set in, one step at a time. It's important work you are doing, but don't just be another political pest, IMHO.

I would space it out a day or two between comments. Keep pushing, just you don't want to be annoying about it. The libs are sore right now.

I solemnly promise to be gentle ❤️ he's one of my few remaining irl friends.

he is the only person outside my immediate family to have seen me having a PTSD-induced panic attack, and he was very kind about it.

it also seemed to change how he sees me, and he has been treating me much more like a peer than a kid sister ever since, which doesn't make a ton of sense to me, but 🤷 I'll take it.

You know, I didn't see the "not to long" and "hopeful" part and thought you should send him this:

      https://www.counterpunch.org/2024/11/08/the-crack-up/

Except its not short or hopeful. Lol maybe this is a good send for the "anger" part of the grieving process.

wasn't terribly surprised by any of it but jfc this

The Harris campaign raised a billion dollars and ended $20 million in debt. Many people got rich by dispensing terrible advice.

        this makes me very angry

I just cannot wrap my brain around having so little conscience

“People don’t want to be in a coalition with the devil,” says the source, speaking about Dick Cheney. They say a Harris staffer responded that it was not the staff’s role to challenge the campaign’s decisions.

I see the Russian bots managed to infiltrate the Harris campaign.

Interestingly, Bill Kristol, a top Never Trump Republican, publicly urged Harris in the final weeks of the campaign to pitch a progressive, populist economic message against Trump and his army of billionaire supporters.

Interesting. I think the dem machine could learn a lot from Psaki's insight that dozens of millions are much bigger than a million (or however many GOP they could snag).

Former White House Press Secretary and MSNBC host Jen Psaki said Friday on Morning Joe that Democrats had spent too much time listening to and lifting up Republicans who left Trump and the Never Trump movement.

“The people who left the Democratic Party are the people who are going to win in the future,” she said. “The people who left Trump, the Never Trumpers — who have important voices — that is not a winning coalition.”

ignoring advisors and data, talk about deranged leadership. kinda sounds like maybe trump really was the harm reduction candidate, because who knows how dark and cruel "I'm speaking!" could get under the cover of a fawning mediasphere that would gleefully silence any criticism. trump's gonna be a piece of shit and inspire a lot of violence, but they hate him so the victims of that barbarism won't be easily, smugly framed as terrorists and bigots by all of the talking heads.
