They were tired of getting their ass beat in the comments and are currently hate scrolling Catadora's profile. They're apparently opposed to Israel but automatically assumed that I would also condemn Hamas? I don't go into the posting mines very often anymore because this shit is exhausting.

A lot of unexamined and unread self-described internet "anarchists" are just no-veggies-at-dinner no-bedtimes "DONT TELL ME WHAT TO DOOOOOO" treatbrains.

yea i personally know at least one who seems like an anarchist based on their blanket "authoritarianism is always bad" stance, but i know his relationship with his parents and it has literally always been "don't tell me what to do" since his teenage years. I think the early weed smoking stunted his brain growth. This is also the same person ive mentioned on here before who thinks crosswalks are authoritarianism.

The "WEED IS ALWAYS GOOD AT ALL TIMES AND EVERYONE SHOULD ALWAYS BE ON WEED WEED CURES EVERYTHING" bunch often did start early. Weed is cool and good after formative years are over, but I've known enough early starters to conclude for myself that weed isn't a good idea for kids, not until their brains are more fully developed.

Saying that on the internet runs a high chance of the "WEED IS ALWAYS GOOD AT ALL TIMES AND EVERYONE SHOULD ALWAYS BE ON WEED WEED CURES EVERYTHING" crowd losing their shit, though.

Western liberals with a fetish for talking about property crime. They call themselves anarchist but don't read literally anything in the anarchist bibliography.

This whole saga is hilarious. I wonder what this person's motivation for doing this is? What are they thinking will happen? Do they expect all the "tankies" will just go "Yes, I never thought of it like that before, this link to the CIA's website is very compelling evidence that I am completely wrong and will change my mind posthaste!"

I'm 99% sure that person was a paid propagandist. I don't make that claim lightly because I think quite often libs do state department work for free, but this one, well, they set off every one of my "this person is being paid to try to make communists look bad on the internet" alarm bells.

If they were, they probably wouldn't sound like a cliche teenage American "anarchist" though. Real feds are much harder to spot, and mostly lurk to keep tabs on people, this is far too incompetent for the feds.

"You can drop the debate bro persona" says the liberal throwing messages at an inbox like a man sending angry texts to a woman who rejected him

Just admit you got irrefutably owned in the open so hard you turned to privately harassing people

It's brutal and effective. Doesn't shut them up, but leaves them floundering, they always have the same canned "I'm not a debate pervert, I'm just asking questions!" response. Every time.

I have learned the secret art of not giving a shit about engaging with people

It works at the mall for those folks at the kiosks, it works with Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses, and it works with the chuds at stores who are mad that I still wear a mask everywhere

Their debate tactics mainly revolve around alternating between calling people a fascist, zionist or debate bro. They're not sending their best, folks.

I mean I was one of the people that got harrassed by homophobic DMs when the site first started. I've only ever used DMs to check if someone is fine, continue a long comment thread privately instead of having a 50 comment deep public chat, and to contact the original developer about site bugs. (Though I don't think they are around anymore). I don't even understand why people would DM randoms on hexbear lol. Especially to debate? Weirdo behaviour.

    @anarchost@lemm.ee

I am going to argue that this narrative is nonsense. It tries to pass off as universal and eternal something that in reality is particular and ephemeral. In short: Westerners aren’t helpless innocents whose minds are injected with atrocity propaganda, science fiction-style; they’re generally smug bourgeois proletarians who intelligently seek out as much racist propaganda as they can get their hands on. This is because it fundamentally makes them feel better about who they are and how they live. The psychic and material costs are rationally worth the benefits. [...]

Let us look at a specific example. A claim like “There’s cultural genocide of Uyghurs in Xinjiang” is simply unreal to most Westerners, close to pure gibberish. The words really refer to existing entities and geographies, but Westerners aren’t familiar with them. The actual content of the utterance as it spills out is no more complex or nuanced than “China Bad,” and the elementary mistakes people make when they write out statements of “solidarity” make that much clear. This is not a complaint that these people have not studied China enough — there’s no reason to expect them to study China, and retrospectively I think to some extent it was a mistake to personally have spent so much time trying to teach them. It’s instead an acknowledgment that they are eagerly wielding the accusation like a club, that they are in reality unconcerned with its truth-content, because it serves a social purpose.

@anarchost@lemm.ee is a pathetic troll, just your typical pol brained shit-flinger without an ounce of integrity or political coherence

And if they're a paid propagandist they're a cheap one, literally asserted checking sources critically was "nazism", absolute bottom barrel dipshittery

The trick is to instantly recognize these scumbags and immediately clown them, cause whether they're paid or not they're all highly insecure people who measure their self-worth by an imagined proximity and loyalty to power
