The Buttigieg talk has reportedly “frustrated” several staffers of color who see the chatter as a slight toward Vice President Harris
Because black voters looooved Kamala
"Who will have less support among black voters" is going to play merry hell with the betting pools.
the former South Bend, Ind., mayor had already become a household name through his scrappy 2020 presidential campaign that saw him soar in Iowa and New Hampshire
Hahaha so scrappy and adora---SHUT THE FUCK UP!
Soaring is when you win one state by 0.1% despite an attempt to cheat and lose the other by 1.3% and still end up with less delegates from either.
The tone is so positive. It's unbearable how much they want us to like this guy.
In sports commentator lingo, scrappy is a dogwhistle synonym for white, e.g., "David Eckstein is a scrappy gym rat, hardhat and lunchpail kind of guy."
Poor Chasten. Did anyone watch the doc yet to see more of how Pete treats him like shit? I can't imagine a presidential run would be great for them as a couple. Pete will probably need a ready supply of dogs to work his anger out on :deeper-sadness:
I've said this before: Chasten would've been the improv guy that everyone liked, but was also kind of anmoying. Now he's stuck in a dead marriage with a rat.
Good Improv is amazing don’t be ashamed of liking it. It gave us Jean-Ralphio Saperstein, Ted Lasso, and everything Brennan Lee Mulligan has ever done. The problem is bad improv is just So grating that it can ruin it forever for some people.
I really fucking loved the stuff Tom Middleditch did for Netflix a few years ago before I knew how problematic he was.
Tom Middleditch
Oh GOD he’s problematic. I was saving his special with Ben Schwartz for a rainy day.
Yeah, my partner and I fucking loved it....and then we started seeing the articles about him :yea:
Just looked it up ewe he’s a sex pest.
At least there’s still Aunty Donna. The definition of chaotic energy Australian comedy. Their show on Netflix is like 60% improv. The edd helms scene was completely improv.
Fuck it, I'm home alone for another 90 minutes. Watching Kids in the Hall right now. I'm gonna throw that on next.
If Biden doesn't run for reelection, Hillary is going to smell blood in the water and jump in the race.
Ok what stage of imperial decline is “the intelligence agency takes over the government”?
Has there been a president since Truman who's told them "no" about basically anything?
Oh right. Kennedy :thinking-about-it:
It’s the stage that the imperium has always been in. Now just the illusion is falling apart.
No I meant they directly take over like stop ruling from the shadows.
Yeah folks don’t realize the CIA ran the gov under Regan through hw bush and then directly with him. He was literally head of the CIA and had been either an agent or asset prior. Kennedy’s assassination was a coup.
Yo, remember that time everyone learned about Iran-Contra and the best they did was a slap on the wrist for Ollie North? Lol
Isn't he just a right wing crank radio host turned Fox News talking head? The man's a millionaire, he can't possibly be guilty of treason.
edit: oh no
True. Yeah. That’s just fascism. So we’re close to the end I think.
I didn't think trump would run again in 2024 but he could piledrive bootyjudge through the canvas as long as he's able to stay out of a wheelchair and keep drool off his face
Uhh actually mister former president sir, with all do respect my former commander of the armed forces, it's pronounced boot edge edge, I'm sorry for having to correct you.
MAYOR PETE'S EPIC CLAP BACK 👏 FROM LAST NIGHT'S DEBATE
I don't think Pete can get elected with 0% black support, no matter how fast you spin the lathe.
The only part of this story I have trouble believing is that Pete manages to win a national election
I thought this was crazy until the dogs part. Maybe there’s something to this
The ruling class eventually gets whatever they want, huh?
First the media props up a random mayor out of nowhere. Voters don't take the bait.
So they rig the Iowa primary for him. Voters still didn't take the bait.
Ah, fuck it let's just pull some backdoor shenanigans and make him president anyway.
It's just palace intrigue all the way down. That's all American politics can ever be. Royal watching.
The only options this establishment sees is Harris or Buttigieg....they're fucking doomed lmao
A lot of us thought Biden didn't have a chance either, but then he won
Dude an empty seat would have beat Trump by a mile. Might actually be the worst last year, at least by optics standard, of any president.
The fact that it was even close is the problem lmao
I guess I'm just basing my thoughts about what is going on now, but the window is closing on any policy wins.
The Republicans still seem able to drum up voter motivation and are likely going to take back congress in the midterms meaning nothing will happen in the back half of Bidens term. I just can't see either of them making a convincing case off the heels of a bad presidency. They'll have the baggage of the previous president but none of the benefit that being an incumbent brings.
Doomed? Either one will be great for business and Harris or Buttigieg will easily win in 2024/2028.
and Harris or Buttigieg will easily win in 2024/2028.
Is this "a win" and "great for business" in the dem sense where they'll pull a lot of donor money during the campaign but will eat shit in November so Dems don't have to govern and get more money from people so they can performatively "resist"
No, I mean that them winning will be better for global Capital than a Republican winning, and also that Harris or Buttigieg will easily wipe the floor with any Republican they run against in 2024/2028.
Not disputing your first point but:
Harris or Buttigieg will easily wipe the floor with any Republican they run against in 2024/2028.
:doubt:
Outside of PMC dorks they have virtually no support, and both do very poorly with Black voters in particular
What are black voters gonna do, vote for. Republican? No. Low primary support doesn't mean black voters won't do their duty in November. The GOP's base is literally dying, and they will die as a party soon.
do their duty in November
:cringe:
This reeks of lib cope — based on how badly the Dems got steamrolled in elections this year and how everyone's doing in the polls, two candidates that are despised after four years of dem leadership accomplishing nothing are very unlikely to win.
I'm being a bit satirical, but I do genuinely believe that Harris or Buttigieg would cruise to victory in 2024/2028 against literally any Republican. The Democrats have this shit far too "on lock" for the Republicans to win the Presidency again for the foreseeable future (down allot races get murkier the lower you get). The whole reason they freaked out over Trump was because it was an upset to the "models", but they fixed that with the Biden patch.
It doesn't matter what black voters "like" - they're a captive audience politically speaking, and there will always be an excuse on why souls need to go to the polls for some asshole no one likes. Many of the dumbass libs who lurk here will happily trot out whatever the DNC party line is come election time, with the necessary caveats to sound "down" ("I know electoralism doesn't work, but we will push them left/we have to fight fascism!") like clockwork.
I strongly disagree with your assessment — I think it lacks historical and material analysis of things like how badly Biden/Dems/et al have been eating absolute shit in polls especially in swing states, how Dems need to have like a +3 margin to win anything because of the electoral college and gerrymandering, and how everyone's material conditions continue to get worse (which foretells a change in ruling party).
I don't know where you're getting the idea that Dems have anything "on lock" given how badly they've been eating shit, from losing an unlosable election in 2016 to sleepy Joe nearly snatching defeat from the jaws of victory (significantly underperforming polls for "generic democrat" vs trump in the general) and would've if not for how bad material conditions got with the historic pandemic. Look at how badly the elections in VA went this month, and how drastically districts that went heavily-biden flipped.
They're paid to lose and they're very good at it.
I don't really have much interest in discussing electoralism but I'd encourage you to think more materially about them instead of ideologically.
I think you're confusing my statements with ideological support for the Democrats - I hate the Dems and will never vote fornthem. Skip to the bottom if you want my serious "material" analysis of how the 2 party system works.
how badly Biden/Dems/et al have been eating absolute shit in polls especially in swing states
Polls don't mean shit, they might mean *less" than shit given how huge the election betting/prediction market is and how easy it is to manipulate data to make money on the spread. Demographics is destiny, and demographics are on the Dems side for Presidential races.
They’re paid to lose and they’re very good at it. I don’t really have much interest in discussing electoralism but I’d encourage you to think more materially about them instead of ideologically.
If say the same to you, hoss. From a material basis, both parties need the other one to exist in order to justify fundraising and the media spectacle. Democrats are good at losing certain races.
IMO Democrats are meant to be the "executive" while Republicans are meant to dominate the judiciary with the legislative branch in constant gridlock. The reason is that the Democrats are good at clamping down on the crazies, respecting norms and as you said, losing. That's exactly who you want as the executive to make the country look good, and to promise things to the ordinary people that you know can't be delivered by some loser ass Democrat (because the President can't actually do anything or they get called a King).
Meanwhile, you let the Republican psychos loot shit behind the scenes in the courts and use that as an excuse why Democratic congress members can't do shit. It's also easier to push through crazy stuff because it's easier to gerrymander small races.
Evergreen reminder that "material conditions" have nothing to do with electoral preferences either.
H W Bush wasn't just a spook though, he was top brass of the spooks. An ideological and moral stand point for those under him. Pete is a pawn, he was private intelligence contractor who's big bit was fixing bread prices in the first world and running to the third world to avoid criticism as mayor of a small city.
It does and Pete is. Pete embodies the chicken running around with its head cut off.

That's what you know about. He visited Iraq and Afghanistan as part of his work at McKinsey. He joined Naval Intelligence in 2009, so not for rah-rah patriotic reasons and after his stint at McKinsey. And what did he do in Afghanistan with the Navy? "Disrupt terrorist financial networks" with the Afghan Threat Finance Cell, a DEA/FBI/IRS joint-venture created in 2008 to identify people to add to the "kill or capture" list for JSOC. Like a mafia goon who marks other bosses for a hit so his gang can still their turf.
They want this so fucking bad, the last time an agency man was president was Daddy Bush, and he was the ex-head, imagine the salivating at getting an actual beep-boop robot in the spot.
why even think that anyone else would?
Because white, affluent, college-educated professionals would. They're the real base of the Democratic Party, after all.
Edit: Seriously I door-knocked for Bernie and if it was a big house with a "in this house we believe" sign in the yard, and a white person answered the door, 9 times out of ten they were Pete supporters.
its my personal conspiracy that buttigeg was supposed to get the nod for dem nominee but black people hated him so they had to force biden out of retirement.
