I sometimes do not understand the hate that people have towards JP.

I like JP’s social views on relationships, habits, parenting, men & women, etc. and he’s one of the most renowned psychologists in the world. Why so much hate? Genuine question.

Thanks

Any woman that disrespects a mans intellectual freedom is the worst kind of bigot who doesn't love or respect you in any way shape or form. She might not be capable of love. Step back, take a deep breath, and thank your lucky stars she's gone.

On top of all the many other problems with the excerpt, two things:

If you take apart the conjunction, you see the assertion "women aren't interested in discussions". :thonk:

Also, the idea that women specifically don't like longform podcasts is hilarious. I'm pretty sure they make up the bulk of the audience for the truecrime genre, for instance.

Ever walk out on a shitty date though? One night I was smoking on my porch with this guy and was totally about to invite him inside when he asked me how I felt about antifa and then said he thought they were worse than Nazis, like unprovoked. I told him to leave and he was confused but then got really angry and I was a little scared but then he left.

Not as fun as walking out on a shitty job (which everyone should do at least once, it rocks), but I still feel like I dodged a bullet there.

Not as fun as walking out on a shitty job (which everyone should do at least once, it rocks)

This is super fun, when I quit my worst job ever (was riding the bus to a shitty restaurant to work as a host, and they kept giving me split shifts so I'd just sit unpaid for 3 hours in the break room because the busses we're not frequent enough to leave and come back) I just stopped going and my boss called me to ask if I was coming in for my shift a couple of hours into it, and I told him no and he asked why and I told him that I was at orientation for my new job. Manager was like "Well thanks for telling us," and I said "you're welcome" before he hung up.

This was in the top five moments in my life.

Talk about not reading the room.

I've definitely fucked up a few dates before. There's an impulse to be angry particularly when you don't understand where you went wrong. Learning to control your worst impulses tends to come with age. I get the feeling that's why older men can come across as comparatively smooth. They just know when to keep their yaps shut.

There are a few dissenting voices in the thread. One that stood out to me was that interaction with someone saying "Women in general don't like what Jordan Peterson is saying. He's particularly anti-feminist, which obviously isn't going to sit well with women - generally speaking of course." [https://www.reddit.com/user/I_am_momo]. That's where he does the "They frame him as anti-feminist, but I think that he’s fair to both genders, analyses both of them equally based on science, history and human behavior." attempt to debate away the most mild explanation he could be given.

Most pservers are located in countries that wipe their ass with U.S. IP laws, or they get shut down eventually like Nostalrius. Ascension is also alpha testing a server that has 21 new classes.

I use it because it blows my mind how little people care about finding out stuff when all they do is obsess over stuff they know nothing about. You're on the internet. Even spending time on Wikipedia to get the most baseline background is okay. But it's like people forget they're online and they refuse to look into anything.

It goes back to a certain liberal brainness where intellectualism is an identity, not a pursuit. You're intellectual by association with an unofficial brand of media. So you just repeat stuff and never look anything up or find out more about stuff. You hang on "official" reports and news brands as the absolute truth. You also never ask certain questions about society.

I'm assuming the chuds are using it because people keep pointing out how they are not curious people. They're just throwing it back out to get ahead during the internet argument in their head. The one they're constantly having with everyone.

Someone above pointed out exactly what I'm talking about. They accuse others of not being curious yet they refuse to wonder how JP could be seen as bad. They just take what he says at face value because he's an intellectual and must know what he's talking about. But if you go look up his claims about history and stuff, it's wrong. They don't get that far because they're not curious to enough to know if he's right.

It wasnt you, or anything you said, or even what Dr Peterson says. She was looking for an out and a sensational post to her social media. I work in sales and customer service and sometimes clients yell and hang up the phone. I never figured it out until recently. Sometimes im trying to figure out their issue and they still hang up. That person then goes on at dinner bragging that they hung up on a dude that also has emotions, also has a family but to hell with all that. The customer now has a story to tell at dinner time about how he/she "showed me" by hanging up the phone. Lol A good part of all of our lives are mundane, uneventful. Im ok with that and I bet you are too.

    https://www.reddit.com/user/91Uhtred [OP]

This is an issue that JP should really address - for his own sake, and ours. I am staggered that women wouldn't be more interested in a guy who is reading about being more responsible and getting his act more together. There are so many guys who take no responsibility for anything and are a complete mess.

JP has a great message that benefits men and women, people of all races.

It is quite unfortunate that JP spends so much time and effort on unimportant "gender issues" (maybe we all have had to and maybe it is time to move on).

I think that compelled speech, or compelled anything, is a big issue (the underlying issue that JP is railing against), but does it cost us anything to be polite and refer to people as they want to be referred - before they get militant and authoritarian and start enacting laws compelling us into doing stuff - which then sets a precedent for more obnoxious laws?

There are more important things than "gender issues" to discuss, and if you are going to have a fight (or a bad date), why not have it about something really important?

    https://www.reddit.com/user/SauvageThinker

Oh jesus, this one... (CW: SA)

They did you a massive favour. To have that kind of reaction is to tell you straight up "I'm arrogantly ignorant and I can't tolerate a potential partner thinking differently from me"

I think people like that have major issues either relating to a character flaw in their personality that is unaddressed or just a big emotional insecurity that they never worked on.

I had a similar experience with a woman I was dating that was a cocaine addict and rape survivor. I lent her 12 rules for life, she started reading the first chapter and loved it, was saying "oh my god what he's saying is so true, thank you for giving this to me". She gets to the 2nd or 3rd chapter when peterson talks about the symbolism of male and female in different cultures and how the feminine is linked with chaos (she didn't read the explanation of chaos as being unbound potential, i think she just read it as "women are unreasonable and illogical" ) and started furiously texting me telling me this guy was sexist and that she would not read the book anymore...I mean..what can you do? She misinterpreted a line which triggered a mental trauma and her self defence mode kicked in and she rejected the stimulus that caused it (the book).

My ex was a huge JP fan about ten years ago, before he got all unhinged about the Canadian pronoun law or whatever. She grew up dirt poor and never knew her dad. I think he just generally appeals to people with bad relationships with their dads, so like 80% of westerners.

I get how people can fall for most his traps and shit but I will never understand how he tricks them in to thinking he's some world renowned expert in his field instead of just one of countless college professors of no note.

I think a lot of the people he appeals to also don't regard psychology as legitimate in any respect, so he has to be the expert of it to lend credibility.

He's world renowned in that lots of people have heard of him, that's what that means right :meow-floppy:

Sounds like you found the perfect litmus test for future dates.

This could work both ways, no? 1st question to any dates: "What do you think about Lobster Boy?"

Maybe they will form a dating site called Lobster Love? M:F ratio ends up at like 10:1 lmao

Genuinely curious how many dorks you could get to sign up for some chat-bot dating scam by just running ads in the middle of Peterson's YouTube content.

To these people "renowned" means "prominent for whatever reason", when in academia it means more of a "has made one or more important contributions to their field" which JBP is definitely not the second.

He contributed to the downward decline of Jungian theory and made it even more woo-laden than it was before.
