Easy, meet in a public space, with a leftie friend on a vantage point with a rifle in case you gotta take them out if they fail to answer your socialist shibboleth properly

I'd be fine knowing another comrade was a comrade, but yeah, no sharing usernames. Just the fact that we both browse would be enough.

I think that's where I come down on it, tbh.

Same thing for what I post on :reddit-logo: .

Like, I think my core persona is pretty true to who I am, but 1) I lie about details for opsec reasons (for example, I might say I have a particular disability when I actually have a different disability that results in the same needs), which makes things weird if I meet someone IRL and 2) I definitely don't spend the energy thinking through my posts the same way I would if I were going to have to defend them irl. For example, knee-jerk reaction is that the US balkanizing would be both good and funny, but it's not something I've actually given a ton of thought to. I definitely wouldn't want someone to be like "hey, doesn't this contradict your take on the US balkanizing?" like, idfk.

that said, I think anyone who did know me irl would 100% be able to figure out this is me. so... maybe I need better opsec.

I'm afraid that the people I know who would browse this site would bully me for being a :LIB: . My brother already bullies me constantly for not doing more praxis, lol.

amazing. makes me think of that meme that was floating around recently about "I lean left, politically" "I'm a Marxist" "My last statement may have been a massive understatement."

That's how it starts, first the owl pictures, then the owl memes, then communism. Check back in on them in one week to see if they are wearing their Hexbear branded ushanka.

That's so funny, I couldn't imagine what that's like (at least at work). In the two years I've used this site, I've met one person from this site irl. I wish I could meet more, but as we've all said there are complications. At the very least I'd be open to it if even just a few of us could organize it safely

Till then, I'm just glad we can interact here

I know one person based enough for Hexbear but she's too normal for it and all the other lib nerds I know would think I was insane for posting here. :bear-despair:

A good number of my friends are into the Chapo/TrueAnon podcast sphere but none of them had the misfortune of being on reddit in 2020 so I never find good reasons to bring it up

You could send them one of the memes with the hexbear link on it and see if they bite.
