I’m going to flat out reject what you’re saying as a brown burgerlander and ask you to actually listen to the Americans on this one.

Do you know anything about Spain?

About, Like, half of South America?

Non-Americans can virtue signal all they want about American racism but at the end of the day, ask them about Roma or the condition of their indigenous and black people and they’ll start talking about manifest destiny in half a second

Oh I defiantly agree with you that racism from Spainards and white South americans is kinda sidelined.

It seems people misunderstood my post as downplaying European racism which i blame myself on that one.

Europe wasnt even the place i has in mind when I made my post

Seriously, Europeans argument for why they're less racist than Americans is literally "but the racist things we say are true and the people we say them about it deserve it so it's different."

Non-Americans can virtue signal all they want about American racism but at the end of the day, ask them about gypsies or the condition of their indigenous

Do you have an example of this?

When do non-Americans put down their indigenous? Anti-indigenous sentiment is pretty exclusive to America, IME, apart from the antipodes and maybe Safrica.

….what? Please reconsider what you just said

Australia, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Bolivia, Klanada wrt indigineous

Literally every European country wrt Roma.

And it’s funny how you left out the black populace altogether

all of South America, Australia, New Zealand, Pacific islands still colonized like New Caledonia, the Zionist entity.

There's even how Nordic countries treat the Saami people, British occupation of Ireland.

So outside of every country where the term indigenous is even relevant, where do people put down their indigenous?

I guess Italians don’t put down the indigenous population in Italy

There is a sliver of truth to this in that the stuff said in public in some European countries wouldn't fly in the US. It doesn't absolve the smugass American r*dditors, though.

There's also a constant pity party going on with these people acting like the majority of reddit-logo is posting ”unlimited genocide on Amerikkka” or something, when the most they probably see is ”American healthcare sucks” and other takes even most libs won't disagree with.

When my black friend went to Italy people literally made monkey noises at her. In Rome. If you did that in a Klan town people would be like “Yo wtf that’s not cool”

Anti-immigration ”foreign hordes are threatening us” or ”replacement” type stuff. Although looking at how even the Good Guys are harping on about ”securing the border” in the US, not so sure about this anymore.

I think we underestimate how blatantly racist the American fascist movement has gotten, even in the mainstream. I usually don't bother to ever hear the stuff Trump is saying other than the funny things that get memed on here, but if you go and listen to how he talks about immigrants it's not dissimilar to the worst of how Europeans talk about migrants and Roma. It's just as bad in the US as it is in Europe in my experience.

          Different conditions.

America is mostly immigrants. Europe is still majority indigenous. You can't expect those to have the same exact attitudes; that would be pure idealism.

Another thing is the relationship to the Muslim minority: France is 10% Muslim, the UK 5.8%, the USA just 1.1%, so they're not going to have the same attitude towards Islam. Islam is a humdrum daily reality to most Europeans.

There was an example of this when Sadiq Khan was elected mayor of London.

British press has headlines like: Sadiq's got it as expected.

USA press was like: London now has a MUSLIM mayor!!!!

A lot of racists in the US are spineless, chickenshit cowards. They don't think of themselves as racist, only that they have "justifiably" racists opinions. This means they know not to say certain things, especially in the presence of non-whites. Of course, they will shout slurs if they feel they can get away with it or if they think they're surrounded by enough of their fellow racists.

Racists in the US tend to do things that are the equivalent of "I'm not touching you" while their finger is inches away from your face. They will stalk non-whites/call the police, get confrontational by saying "What are you doing here?" and so on. It's obviously racist behavior, but hidden behind dog whistles.

    same-picture

The only part where Europe is better is that our cops don't gun down as many minorities in the streets. They would if they could, but they don't have quite the same impunity (yet). But I know Germany is working on that 100%.

The US is insanely fucking racist, but we inherited our neuroses from the cultures and countries that gave rise to us. All our ills are - in some form - all their ills.

We are the funhouse mirror that highlights all the rest of the anglosphere’s ugliest traits.

They have good intentions, but they are so blinkered by their own experience they don't see other kinds of racism.

Racism takes various forms based on historical and political conditions.

The obvioussest example was when some American celebrity a while ago said Hitler's genocide was not racist because it was white-on-white. Like of course that's racist, it's just different from what you are used to.
