He gave us revision questions that he never gave us the answers to.

"Explain how economic rent can pay to any factor of production" well I barely know what economic rent is, let me check the notes. Oh we've only done two of the four factors of production? Oh economic rent is literally never mentioned in the notes? Oh the only time he brought it up in class was when talking about land, and never in labour? Oh well, I'll come back to this question.

"What is quasi-rent?" Quasi rent? The fuck? What the hell is that? I'll just check the notes. Oh look, the notes never mention quasi-rent. I love economics, favorite class great teacher AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH

I my experience the ratio of lectures to exercises is on average 1:3, in both time spent and things learned, but for some reason many teachers put much more effort into the lectures and very little into the exercises. I guess they just trust the first google result to be a better teacher than they are.

Ok that's great and all but I'm still in school. Like high school. Teachers are supposed to teach us stuff

Nah, teachers are supposed to show you how to act properly in the feudal court of capital. Good manners and shit, they know if they actually try to teach this stuff to people who aren't as psychotically narcissistic as them people will get wise to the game. This is why they just pick their vat-grown think-tank "wunderkinds" for important shit and the ones who claw their way up are absolute sickos. "The Master's tools will never dismantle the Master's house."

Are you doing all your readings? I've had teachers who never mention things in lecture that are covered in the readings without really emphasizing that the text is a large part of the course. It sucked.

Econ101 or beginner economics are pure propaganda. Funny enough, more advanced economics are more likely to be critical of capital.

I took a class called something like "The Global Economy and the Environment" or something. The whole class was about how unregulated capitalism destroys the environment, yet every session the libertarian kid in the front would try to argue with the teacher about how there could be a "free market solution."

Had the dumbest libertarian kid in class that regularly argued with the professor about things like more education/more health/less teenage pregnancy being good ("I just want to make money!" Literally that bad.). The sad part was that the professor was ancient (like, Biden-ancient), so while he had very well-researched material prepared, he couldn't really follow the arguments - especially given how absolutely dumb they were, so it devolved into a mess of misunderstanding.

I confronted the guy repeatedly after class because it was ruining every other lecture (the guy would also talk over the professor), eventually telling him that it's fine that he wanted to share his perspective, but that he should also try to learn what academics can teach him - he replied he already knew what they had to say, so for him class was just an opportunity to spout his bit about abolishing Social Security and w/e.

I love that I never had to bother actually learning economics because my economics teacher had us do all of our multiple choice exams on the school computers for some reason. Was literally able to just google the answers throughout the entire semester because those exams accounted for like 80 percent our grade.

This is College in General now. I’ve gone back now that I’m in my 30s and I’m absolutely livid at how fucking awful College is and and how much contempt professors hold against their students
