Friends was problematic and overrated but damn if I didn't enjoy it for what it was, that being fun slop to watch while I'm winding down with friends and family.
So this and David Schwimmer outing himself as an unapologetic Zionist in the same week (not that it was too surprising) does feel like a kick to the gut.
God fucking damnit
I never watched Friends and I only knew Schwimmer from Band of Brothers. His acting in that show was amazing and this is disappointing news.
I couldn't take Schwimmer seriously in BoB which I watched well after Friends
He played the perfect little "talks a lot of shit but can't back it up" petty asshole role.
When you learn he's a coward and then he takes his petty frustrations out on Winters and the NCOs and then the higher officers force him out and Winters gets to lead the company after the next in line officer dies on D day. It's so satisfying.
Yeah the fact it happened now is such a whiplash. Like I feel bad for his family and friends, but it comes after feeling that way for a far less powerful people the past month.
I'm just now hearing this for the first time...
this is the guy who did the gunboat diplomacy, right?
ShowThat's young to go.
Shit comes in 3s. Come on it's your turn bastard.
Yeah I always figured Joey would die first because he didn't know you're supposed to chew an apple or something.
Dude fucked his body up pretty good when Friends was at its peak. In addition to being unfunny sitcom slop for , watching him and Courtney Cox being the TV poster couple for the horrible effects of unchecked Hollywood excess was unsettling.
Perry, the son of actor John Bennett Perry and Suzanne Marie Langford, onetime press secretary of Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, was born in 1969 and grew up between Montreal and Los Angeles after his parents separated when Perry was 1.
"If I know my pal
BennyMatty he's swinging with the big cat upstairs as we speak, or chasing some angel broad with cans as big as her halo!"
Damn. He was the best part of friends and killed it as Benny. RIP.
whenever reflecting on a different dead actor (for example River Phoenix or Chris Farley), Matthew Perry would say (in his memoirs released in 2022) it wasn't fair/right that they were dead and Keanu Reeves was still alive.
i know it's a thing to worship keanu, but by many accounts he seems to be a fairly shy, decent guy who has experienced pretty severe personal tragedies (stillborn child, wife died in car accident, sister with leukemia) and comes across as someone grounded and relatable.
i haven't found perry amusing for about 20 years and despite being the star of [White] FRIENDS, he completely shit the bed at doing anything else, probably because his one-note bitter-sarcastic "acting" range didn't translate to anything after his little star vehicle ran itself into the ground.... meanwhile everyone else in that cast went on to do some critically acclaimed work. my personal favorite moves of former friends main cast:
- Matt LeBlanc as himself, Episodes - pretty hilarious critique of how the sausage is made when it comes to sitcoms - i still use Matt LeBlanc's ringtone from the show as my ringtone because it makes me laugh, even after many years.
- Lisa Kudrow as Valerie Cherish, The Comeback - brilliant takedown of "reality" tv production specifically, and sitcoms/the hollywood system more generally
His knocks it out of the park as the voice of 'Benny' in Fallout New Vegas.
I thought this was a c/fakenews post from regularassbitch or GayTuckerCarlson
talk about a reversal
I made up a tasteless joke.
CW: (1) death (2) animals as food
Boiling lobster cosplay is highly dangerous. But Mathew Perry is dead. Friends should have let their friend know.
