https://www.salon.com/2024/04/06/dwayne-the-rock-johnson-raises-eyebrows-after-saying-he-regrets-endorsing-biden-in-2020/

Speaking to host Will Cain, Johnson revealed that he's not happy with the state of America right now, highlighting "wokeness" and "cancel culture" as contributing to a division in the country that really bugs him.

“I’m not a politician. I’m not into politics," he says. "I care deeply about our country. I’m a patriot, and I believe you are too, as well. And right now, my desire and my priorities are my babies and school drop-offs and pickups — that’s important to me."

He is running.

Dwayne Johnson has been showing back up in WWE events, and I do get the sense that he's tapped out on the Disney end of the money funnel. With all that Saudi cash flowing into combat sports and with Vince McMahon getting dragged out back like the rabid dog he is, I wouldn't be surprised to see Johnson springboards from Vince's old position to a political campaign, with his eyes on the White House.

Gotta distance himself from the wildly unpopular current liberal President if you're even going to begin that transition.

This lines up with the most hilariously bullshit video I've ever seen of him fishing and landing a huge, very obviously dead fish that unfortunately was all juuuuust off camera until it was in his hands.

He's pandering to real Americans, and by real Americans I mean the dumbest 20% of your high school class.

And I'm pretty damn sure he's doing it because he doesn't like the idea of having his fortune taxed so he's ingratiating himself with the "right" to help them politically so he and those like him can enjoy even more tax breaks.

So many of these "oh man I made a mistake" famous voters just so happen to also be really wealthy.

I grew up in a rural oil and gas town, it was more like 85-90%. I was still a lib-archist then, but I remember the teacher asking who we planned on voting for in our first election as adults, and literally everyone except me and my (firmly working class, but real working class, his dad was a coal miner and so was his grandpa) best friend said they’d vote for John McCain.

the way normies talk about politics is just so stupid, I don't even know how to talk to them. I was listening to two people in my class talk the other day and they were saying "I hate how divisive politics is these days, it's like team sports. why can't they all just come together to do stuff? we just need more choices! Trump shouldn't be running because he's a criminal, I love Nikki Haley they should have run her instead!"

    • Adkml [he/him]
      ·

This is always hilarious to hear because when they do come together to get stuff done we get stuff like the patriot act, end of net neutrality, and more private prisons.

Turns out not even being able to articulate a political agenda is a shortcoming and you dont want politicians just doing things for the sake of it.

Also libs talking about Hailey like she's a moderate compared to Trump is a really strong argument that not everybody should have the right to vote. They have the exact same agenda but Hailey will actually pursue it for 5 minutes before getting bored and spending the afternoon coming up with a new way to grift the base.

      • assyrian

everything is just aesthetics to these people, because Haley is an absolutely horrifying warmonger who'd probably be worse than Biden or Trump. she wants to keep sending money to Ukraine forever, regarding Palestinians she said Israel should "finish them".

Kinda weird, while I never thought he had any leftist tendencies, he seemed to speak out against toxic masculinity, the idea that men can’t be vulnerable. Wonder what exactly he’s thinking of with “cancel culture” and “wokeness.”

For all that I hear about wokeness, I don't think I've seen any wokeness besides brown people being cast in movies and shows I don't watch. However, I have seen 10,000 people moan and moan about wokeness. I don't even know my toaster's gender?! Did you just assume my gender?! Bold of you to assume I'm a man! But I've never encountered the screaming banshees they hate. I had a friend with an ex who was she/they and a bat out of hell. That's really it though

A colleague of mine constantly complains about “lying bitches” and “liberal third wave feminists” on our campus. There has literally been 0 screeching liberal feminists anywhere since I’ve gotten here, and I don’t think we were even a blip during the 2016 campus culture wars.

Besides that, almost all of the so called ‘politically correct liberal feminists’ I know were about as vulgar and rude and politically incorrect as any other student would be in their college years lol. I have literally no idea what this dude is yapping about 99% of the time, and I can only assume his reality is made up of Ben Shapiro debates

Honestly surprised he's going for the right wing grift as usually movie stars and wrestlers are pretty happy to try to stay on china's good side which is not going to be popular with his planned voting base.

Continuing to actually be super racist against Chinese people but saying Xi is a better president than Biden and calling libs racist when they try to argue seems pretty on brand to me but you're probablly right.

I'd also say they're to sexist to care about the integrity of records in women's sports or to homophobic to defend gay people but if it gives them a chance to shit on Trans people or Islam they're more than happy to hold some positions with no internal consistency.

this generic liberalism is reactionary. It's always been people complaining about political correctness and participation trophies, and now wokeness and "devicivness". They may not be full on chuds, but your generic "apolitical" lib will whine about these things too.

The Rock was more of a nepotism hire as was his initial push as Rocky Maivia. His family had a long history with the WWF. The fans hated him at first for that reason. That's why he turned heel and became the Rock and got over
