The chud, that is unfortunately in my extended family, played Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind when it was still a new game and was a recent hit. He said that he liked the game but wished it was less ethnic and tried less hard to be multicultural and preachy.
He had a lot of mods in the game. :awooga: harem mods mostly. But he also had a bunch of severed Argonian heads as well as other ethnics that offended him on display in his modded harem throne room.
As you might have guessed, he had absolutely no issue with Skyrim except how ethnic and feminist some of the characters were, and had mods to "correct" that. And another harem that he proudly announced to offline dinner guests that didn't ask. :kombucha-disgust:

i think you're underestimating how bad American history education is. my advanced history teacher in high school spent more time telling us how American slavery wasn't "that bad" than they did actually teaching us anything about the civil war.
that's also true. i've just had to explain basic history surrounding the USSR or Vietnam to people who actually do want to know the truth so many times that I think there's more to it than just people quickly rejecting counternarratives since there's an entire capitalist superstructure telling you the things you learn in school or the correct media sources are true and objective.

My brother is convinced that they're buying new books with taxpayer money to sell off for cheap so that the librarians can pocket the cash. He won't even step in the building anymore because of how angry it makes him. The books are being sold for like $1 apiece
That is a form of corruption for big projects. Buying a bunch of materials out of the product budget and then selling it off below market price since it's all profit for the corrupt official.
Especially common with fungible stuff like concrete, which is why sometimes bridges in corrupt countries will randomly just collapse.

So some of my relatives are homeschooled and they have a set of textbooks with a completely alternate American history where the Confederacy still exists, but is more like a vassal state. I remember being with one of my cousins when I was a kid and he kept saying "the real president" about something. And so I asked him like, "Who, Bill Clinton?" That's who I thought he meant, but he shook his head and said some stupid southern name I don't remember, like Cletus Amos Beauford Something Something. We didn't interact much after that, I was deemed a bad influence.

Some time around 2019, I tried to explain QAnon etc. to someone I know who proudly "doesn't follow news." I pointed out that the US has a large base of white supremacist and Dominionist people who have been successfully organizing for decades, and are disproportionately powerful as a result. I raised the concern that with something as unhinged as QAnon ballooning in popularity, white supremacists could have a realistic chance at seizing power.
Their reply: "Well that is scary, but not as scary as if Obama imports Muslims until America is a Muslim country."
And yes, I did ask whether they meant Obama when he was still president. They did not, apparently this is still an active threat in their eyes
