Wait.. so he called out the dems by bluffing, and the dems called out Trump by bluffing back and no one wants to give money, and they'll and up to giving over 3 times as much as they wanted to give? Am I understanding this correctly?

No, because Mitch McConnell is still in the equation and he's consistently been shitting on the idea of stimulus checks too

If Trump says he's giving everyone CovidBucks and McConnell kills them, Kentuckians will lynch him. Chuds are already pissed he accepted the election results.

But then if McConnell gets his way then the Georgia races will probably favor the dems and so the dems would have the senate majority. In any case whatever happens in Georgia will be interesting.

Eh... still plays into Trump's hands I think. Because she's saying that she and the Dems were depending on Trump's demands for the stimulus checks to make up their minds on how much to give in said checks. She's saying that Trump didn't show his hands so this could easily be flipped against her so as to say that, if they could, the Dems would only be willing to give $600.

It won't work, because Trump demands a stand-alone bill. And that's not going anywhere in Congress.

My gut says this is an attempt for Trump to solidify his populist support before attempting to use force to remain in power

There’s a part of me that feels like that would be worth $2k considering how shitty Bidens been so far.

I really hope at least $2000 happens. You guys deserve so much more though. Fingers crossed for those struggling in the US right now. Even if it should be $2000 a week instead of a shitty one off.

$2000 would be pleasant. I saw someone break down the numbers on the corporate aid and it was something crazy like $26000 per adult, so I'll continue nursing my resentment. Also, it would be nice to see Pelosi develop a compelling and coherent ideology instead of just reacting to Trump. Why the hell is he the one that's raising the bar?

Well, we love to see it. This shit is so funny. I'm trying not to bother my wife while she's making a grocery order but I want to share it so desperately. 🙉

$2000 + not paying rent for a while could help a lot of people get out of this country. I know the rest of the world is fucked too, but at least people will get health care and shit.

I made the horrible mistake of letting my passport expire and now its so backed up due to Covid I'll never get out of here. Guess can either hide in the woods or get ready for the shitshow thats about to come, because I'm pretty sure Trump is going to try to become a dictator in the next month

I havent missed a paycheck since covid started and I still could desperately use that 2k, I can't imagine what its like for anyone in an even slightly worse situation than me.

I'm in the same boat. Been working this whole time without hazard pay or anything. Can't afford to get behind at all with bills or anything. Plus I'm an independent contractor so I wouldn't be able to get unemployment.

This is... what? This timeline is so weird. But if we're getting 2k out of it I guess I really can't complain? Idk, seems like too much of a good break for us.

The problem is we are so ruled by money, and we are all so incredibly desperate and without any other means of hope for supporting and providing for ourselves and each other that we can all be bought out for cheap even by a proto-authoritarian fascist. All of this is making me that much closer to dropping out again and finding cooperatives in the woods somewhere self-sufficiently and actually living for awhile before this society reaches its nearing final despicable form.

Comrades, I'm struggling here. What is the full dollar amount of the $600 check stimulus bill (all the corporate subsidies, coup funding, etc.). I want to divide it out by the adult population and working adult population.

$900 billion is the total stimulus part of the bill. The total budget spent on the bill is $140 billion, but the money outside the stimulus $900 billion is allegedly (I haven't looked at it) just normal government budget stuff to keep things running.

It's about $6500 per working adult. That's enough to keep us home for a month. Maybe some of that money is needed for some essential govt. functions, but that's what taxes on the rich are for.

So it's an appropriation of over a trillion dollars. Damn. Thanks.

Edit: Maybe I misunderstood. It's 140 billion appropriation, plus all kinds of other stimuli, valued at a total of $900 billion. Either way it all comes out of the budget, so I suppose you can treat it all like real money.
