I saw a user who appeared to be an admin comment that same quote in a thread. Obviously can't know if it's the same user and I won't call out who it is to preserve the anonymity the mods want as much as I think I should (if I could see that coincidence, others can).
But yeah. Let's ban one of the most prolific users. I think I saw them arguing with a vegan user so I guess they're another casualty of this struggle. Or maybe they asked for it as a joke?
No idea. I'm fascinated by all this drama honestly, but I'll probably need a break from this myself as it doesn't look like it will be slowing down and the admins look to be digging their heels in from the PR post
Edit: As much as Dash contributed as a dev, they chose to surround their exit in the struggle drama and talk down to the users who didn't share their opinion. congressbasebalfan could have refrained from commenting, but I don't see where a line was crossed that hasn't been crossed by many other users this week that didn't happen to be replying to mods/devs. It's not ban worthy. Just remove the comment if you want

I think people were getting harassed and maybe potentially doxxed. Dunno if the practice was started after the Beatnik saga or before.
So I kinda get it. But at the same time, it's not shocking there is some mistrust following a decision to remove transparency
I just think you should have to have better reasons for justifying banning. I've seen lots of users go down in the past week where I thought the ban was maybe an overreaction

Considering the mod log, what they've been posting in this thread and what they've been posting megathread, I'm like 80% sure it's u/liberal banning them for being rude to Dash. I disagree with their rudeness to dash, but the ban is catastrophic.
i think having exactly 2 disciplinary actions available to mods, deleting posts or permabanning users, has forced this place to become more and more like a dysfunctional leftbook group. we can bounce back though probably, if we (mods and users) learn from this.
Having moderated a few forums in the past, I can say with certainty that if I just banned people for no given reason, I'd rightly be stripped of any power.

We need more folks who've been here since the start, who care about this community and constantly call the mods on their bullshit as well as other users to step up and volunteer to mod. I see so many people who care so much and I wonder why they haven't
