Other dems only push reforms they know will be killed by Republicans (then go silent when dems are in power) to show that the republicans are opposed to that policy. Bernie shows socdems that the dems are just as opposed to these policies as Republicans.

I used to think it had some utility but it strikes me more and more that it's just kabuki and a way for Bernie to get attention for himself.
Anytime I've talked about cutting the military budget with a blue MAGA lib, they say "we have to pay DA TROOOPS!" as if even a billion dollars of that budget goes to paying them
Also I feel like some people assume the US military budget accounts for post-duty benefits? We spend a couple hundred billion on veteran benefits and services, but that falls under the VA budget, which is completely separate from the trillion dollar defense budget (which mostly goes into researching, building, operating, and maintaining weapons/equipment)

He's part of the opposition that both de facto and explicitly opposes us, presenting liberalism in the name of socialism. He is useful only in that he helped radicalize many through his vision that was against austerity and his subsequent failure at the hands of Dems.

If you criticize people even for doing neutral or good things (like voting to cut military funding), it detracts from actually valid criticism. Even if you don't like a person, you shouldn't dunk on them for no reason. Boy who cried wolf and all that.

He made a conscious political choice to fold his social democratic movement into the Biden campaign and it's totally killed any sort of legislation he was pushing for. The only valid argument for not burning down the party was "hey, we might be able to get stuff done if we play nice", that was criticized at the time and it turned out to be a fucking disaster at a time where the left should be posturing itself away from the failures of this liberal administration. Fuck that old man and anyone dumb enough to still defend him.

For some reason, this site assumes I'm a succdem whenever I call out stupid criticisms of succdems. You'd think my use of the word "succdem" would suggest something about what I think about them, but that's that.

It's not like Bernie is gonna do shit with this. To be useful it needs to be part of a party line on how both liberal parties act against the interests of the working class, so you should do X (like join and build another party, etc etc).
