"When you can kill your enemy ... Your marriage is stronger."

Doesn't the military literally have name for the type of women who fuck other guys while their husbands are deployed, on account of it being so common?

there's a term for the guy who's back home fucking their wives, they're called a "jody"

Exactly, if a troop is away murdering foreigners and Jodie is keeping his wife satisfied, his marriage is gonna remain strong as long as the checks keep coming in.

"Dependa" is slang for the dehumanizing term that's used in administrative language - "dependant", which refers to a civilian spouse and children. The term dependants gets used in common speech for... Reasons? At any rate, if your dependant spouse (no domestic partners or common law marriage, no poly, just monogamous marriage... Which you get paid more for.) is over weight, unemployed, and generally slovenly, they are termed a "dependa-potomus".

They say this stuff all the time to hype up the troops/scare him.

My friend told me during basic training that the drill sergeants claimed that China were going to nuke/destroy Guam in a few days and one recruit burst out into tears. He was actually from Guam and it being a small island he knew most of the people there. They immediately had to walk it back and reassure him that everything was fine. They were just trying to get everyone to take the training more seriously.

I imagine this kind of stuff goes all the way up. The future is a cold war with China and we should expect this kind of news and scaremongering more often.

sure, but it's a feature i've noticed of most troops and aspiring troops (and i suppose americans in general) that they are completely oblivious about world events. like why would china be attacking the US? how the fuck are you going to join the empire and you barely know anything about it?

Yes, Americans are the most propagandized people on the planet. All of our Media says China is bad and even on social media the hive mind keeps reiterating that.

We sensationalized an evil weather balloon. We admit that Taiwan is a Chinese territory yet openly call them evil for wanting to claim it.

If you live here and arent fortunate enough to be born to the right people and in the right areas, the propaganda is convincing enough to well meaning people. US media never calls the US an empire even though it is.

Traveling to non-Western countries and living there for a period also helps; especially places that are maligned in the media or adjacent to them, the problem is far too many people are terrified of the non-Western world and think they're dicing with death even stepping foot in most non-Western countries.

Which is hilarious because when I visited the U.S., the only thing I could repeatedly think about was the multiple ways I could be fucked over there. Being stopped by a cop, gunned down by a chud, or hell, have a medical emergency. Maybe this is paranoia from constant exposure to the atrocities in the U.S. but like, there are hundreds of instances of it and the Empire doesn't even try to hide it, so why shouldn't I believe it? Meanwhile I don't have these fears visiting other countries.

Yes, the person question was a fresh high school graduate and was cut off from the world in a highly stressful and isolated environment. Part of why basic training "works" is that US military is a young persons first job and it will heavily shape their world view.

Probably the same way someone who's never pressure tested their martial arts (or has never done any at all) is most insistent that fighters do reckless techniques. I was at a UFC watch party over the weekend and when Bla- Jan Bl- Blastowitz... When Polish power was fighting Pereria and had begun getting striked after Pereria got up in the second round, a guy was like "you just need to go for another takedown!"

The people with experience corrected him going "it's difficult, he just got punched in the face, his opponent is expecting it, it needs to be set up, last time it worked it was after avoiding a punch & not just executed from open space, and people get murked trying to take down randomly"

All that to share a little anecdote about myself. People who don't do violence grossly overestimate how much of it you need and underestimate how horrible it is. I don't think I was ready to conceptualize imperialism until I realized how fucked up it would be if a group of 5 dudes with guns came running at me by virtue of having grappled one dude in competition and losing a couple times.

US troops be committing horrific war crimes all along the Chinese countryside, get their butts handed to them, and then make movies about how they were the real victims of the conflict, and then everyone cries about how the government treats 'the vets'.

Yeah nah they aren't getting anywhere close to the Chinese coast. Airborne operations will get boomed by an actually existing air defence network and amphibious landing ships won't make it within 300km of the coast before getting turned into a fish habitat by a DF-17

I know Hexbear frowns upon the word, but how can westerners call other people in Russia "orcs" and not look inwards to their own countries? For centuries, western countries are the orcs. This whole "tough guy" culture is something that should rightfully be called Orcishness.

Can't wait for humans to go extinct because western men are too insecure with their masculinity to run anything.

So insecure and toxic with their masculinity that they can't even raise children or court women. Really makes me think of the "fellas is it gay to have sex with women?" joke or animal research where they found male mice selected for aggression were an evolutionary dead end due to failing to consistently reproduce.

westerners are numenoreans. made wealthier and healthier than the rest but not through anything they did, simply because elves gifted it to them.
