"slowly realize America has become a Catholic theocracy" was not one of my predictions for Brandon's America
Six Catholic Supreme Court Judges and a president not interested in stopping them???? Evangelicals arent any better but wtf happened here
Catholics have:
Six seats on the supreme court
Speaker of the house
The presidencyIs the Hibernian conspiracy real?
I always liked catholics cuz my grandparents are Irish but now that they've taken over America I'm gonna have to come to terms with the fact that the Catholic Church is probably the most evil organization of the past millennium, from the crusades to colonialism to child abuse to abortion
Too bad, cuz the guy in their book always seemed cool
I think a majority of Catholics support abortion rights in at least some context. It's not ideal, but it literally is #NotAllCatholics. What this SCOTUS has done is unthinkable in scope.
Yeah I don't mean hate towards individual Catholics, the church is just really bad and I wish it had a lot less political power
Sorry if I'm being rude Im just mad about roe v wade
I never wanted to be an edgy atheist again why did Brandon do this to me
Fixing to bring back old school anti-Catholic prejudice and start ranting about papists
More convinced than ever that if nothing else, this constitution definitely needs to fucking go. Should’ve been ripped up in 1865 at the latest. Give me a parliament with proportional rep. Cut loose the largest contiguous reactionary portion of the country. Something, anything would be better than the shit we have now. Why the hell is us having the oldest fucking government known to man supposed to be a positive?
Is it just me or is hell world accelerating noticeably faster in the last few months?
Death to America
It's becoming more immediate as the system faces stresses it hasn't encountered in several generations, on top of the stresses that are inherit to the Capitalist system. Plus the Fascists are putting their multi-generational plan in to it's final phase.
It really feels like I’m living in 1930 Germany lately and I’m not a fan. In fact I’m really fucking scared and don’t now what to do
went to reddit to see what the general take on the supreme court news is and within 3 minutes found people calling chomsky a tankie. Like of the mountain of shit you could criticize the dude with we're going to land on the tankie boogeyman just lol these people are going to be crying about tankies up to the point we're all choking to death on microplastics and acid rain
So I've been in Mexico City for the past week and a bit and holy fuck is it nice to be out of the States for a while, especially right now. Was at a massive pride event last weekend and the mood was so festive. There was a massive parade in the pedestrianized historic centre and then this enormous concert in the main square with thousands of people all so joyous (Mexico City has had same sex marraige since 2009, and on-request abortion since 2007 which was decriminalised nationwide in 2021) and it was just such a contrast with how my friends and I are feeling back in the US.
Talking with locals is nice. Obviously Mexico has massive problems just like anywhere else in the world, a lot of them caused or "helped" by American imperialism, but there isn't this massive psycho-spatial cloud of impending doom and collapse over everybody, and there's a level of social trust that is almost unthinkable back in the States. I've watched so many people pick other people up from the side of the road and then drop them where they were going, an action that is illegal in many states in the US and totally beyond the pale. The food is beyond delicious and very cheap. Going back to New York this weekend and very much don't want to, but I miss my kitties so that'll be nice.
Sometimes I feel like I sincere-post too often on here. I don't really post on social media where my irl friends are, so this is my preferred spot to vent and talk about real life shit.
Like, my son has been making fan edits of his favorite horror movies and we've been watching them together. He's really good at it, and I just wanted to share a happy moment.
death note is a very camp manga/anime about mind games and elaborate plans. it's been a while since i watched code geass, but iirc it's similar in its goofy mind games and plans and even more ridiculous because of the setting. i liked both, though i reread death note a lot more recently than i watched code geass. i can definitely recommend death note as long as you can deal with some serious misogyny, and code geass has less.
do you mean the other way around? because a lot of awful stuff happens, but it never felt grimdark to me. admittedly i was in high school, but i don't think my opinions have changed that drastically
Yeah so Code Geass is goofy and Deathnote is Grim.
Both are pretty goofy though.
yeah it's great, i watched it three times i'm not even kidding. it's good to watch in earnest, it's good to make fun of the camp stuff, it's good to even point out the dumb writing which there is a lot of. very versatile anime and a true cult classic. don't watch the movie though, it's crap.
